Repeat until the acrylic paint is removed from the carpet. Anon345455 august 19 2013. If you have a lot of paint to clean up you may need to use a knife or paint scraper to remove some of the paint. Using a soft brush scrub the place to remove as much paint as you can.

Rinse the area with clean non soapy water then blot dry the area with new towels or paper towels. Admittedly it was a lot of work getting all the old stains including the dried paint out of my carpet. Vacuum the carpet to remove any excess debris. Even on old dried paint that has been on carpet for long periods of time.

Dry blot the stain. Blot the affected area using a clean cloth to pick up all the dried paint lifted through scrapping. Start by scraping away as much of the dried paint as possible with a razor blade or paint scraper. Removing wet paint is much easier but it is possible to remove dry paint from carpeting.

If the paint stain is dry let the mixture of dishwashing detergent and hot water sit on the stain for about 5 minutes before you try to clean it up. Scrap the spot to remove any tangible dry paint. Although dried on acrylic paint is harder to remove than a fresh spill you still want to work on it sooner rather than later. Spilled paint can ruin the look of your carpet.

Does this work for gloss paint. You can then try spraying wd 40 on it to loosen the paint. Blot the stain with dry paper towels to clean up any excess wet paint sitting on top of the carpet. You may also use a putty knife or a citrus cleaner like goo gone to scrap the stain.

It works on everything from latex to acrylic paints. Genesis 950 is the best thing i have ever found to remove dried paint from carpet. Latex paint is water soluble so it is easier to remove. Still it would take several months if not a year to save up the money to buy new carpeting.

Using a plastic spray bottle mix 1 teaspoon of mild liquid soap for every cup of warm water. Dried paint is more difficult to remove but with a bit of extra effort it can be done.
