Cleaning Granite Soap Stains

Sometimes lifting a soap ring is as easy as leaving a wet sponge on top of the stain for a couple of days.

Use a product designed for cleaning granite countertops. If you clean your granite surface with dish soap and water or any type of soap for that matter it may leave behind a dull film or scum. To deal with these greasy stains mix baking soda and a few drops of acetone to make a paste that should cover the spot and be left for 24 hours then rinse with water and reseal the stone.

This type of residue can be removed carefully. Make sure to only add a small amount of rubbing alcohol as too much may damage your granite. This method is a good first start to removing soap rings but it s not always effective. If the stain covers a large area a large cloth should be used.

Most of the time stained granite countertops can be cleaned with household items so common that you probably already have them in your pantry. When the granite dries from where the sponge was the soap stain will be gone. Rub the moistened cloth over the soap stains on the granite. To saturate the mold or mildew pour a small amount of the hydrogen peroxide water onto the stained area.
